It’s coming to the Xmas season, that time of year where enforced and welcomed frivolity are boundless.

Many hate the idea of the Xmas office party, others love it. It’s often the time of year where the frugal austerity measures of the office (No more biscuits this quarter! Please share teabags! Bonus? What’s a bonus?) are put aside for a moment and the entire business comes together for an awkward evening of CEO rubbing shoulders with the intern.

Gold, frankincense, and myth

There's a common myth that freelancers never get invited to the Xmas party - in truth, many do, and are involved in the festive fun, or at the very least get invited, whether they choose to attend or not - indeed many of us receive invites from multiple clients.

However, inclusion is not that consistent, and feeling left out can be difficult for many, especially those new to freelancing.

Last year I really felt the absence of a team, as the rest of my friends were all so busy with their own work parties etc, and I found myself feeling like I was missing out on the festivities. That was
